Luckily I got the correct discs and they are of a very high quality. The stated length of side D of 17:36 appears to be wrong. It is at least 10 mins longer than that.

The music is fantastic. Side B on my copy has terrible surface noise throughout. Borderline unlistenable. Side D is also not great. The funk on side D is unreal.

Anyone else find the whistling (almost like a referee's whistle) throughout the recording to be annoying/distracting? :)

THANK YOU! It seriously got on my nerves. I don't care if it is some kind of traditional element; annoying is annoying and it goes on for like 10 minutes over some of the best stuff of the album! After all the hype I had come across, I wasn't impressed with the sound quality either, bass and percussion really lack clarity IMHO, but that's comparing it to HDTapeTranfers HiRes from master tape Kenny Burrel Trio stuff.

I wasn't a big fan but it's just part of the production. I don't think whistles are used very much in most music but with the latin fusion element (of this album) makes it's more justified.

Very unique Grant Green...late in his career and his playing is on fire...in the booklet notes he comments on his respect for Larry Coryell's playing, and while Grant is rooted in the groove you can hear a slight fusion influence in some of his rapid fire single lines, especially at the end of "Insensatez." The complete funk medley features Emmanuel Riggins as much as Grant and they both do not dissapoint...i have to put this up with "Club Mozambique", "Live!" and "At the Lighthouse" as required live Grant Green listening, but because of the then contemporary electronic slant to the overall sound, fresh set list and the presence of recording quality, this one gets the edge...until i save up enough $$$ to purchase the 3 lp "Funk in France" set, then we'll see how they all stack up...hands down the most smokin' jazz/funk guitar work committed to wax in my lifetime (i'm 62).

I really enjoy Grant Green, but sides C and D really show off this funky side of him. I was less familiar with that because I mainly have heard his early 60s output and sideman work with some others. This is a fantastic sounding record. Very alive and clear. The pressing is flat and quiet.

Totally agree, I always loved his 60's Blue Note era stuff but never really took a hard look at his 70's stuff. This has changed that for me for sure. Great release!

Bassist Ronnie Ware is tearing it up all over this release, but especially side C. Definitely didn't expect anything like those first few minutes of Vulcan Princess. This release is awesome. So glad I sought one out.

Mine is fine, right labels, different tracks, this record is a lot better than I thought it would be. I am not really into jazz funk at all and I thought this would be different then it is. I am only on side 2 but it is downright beautiful (Insensitive.) Really glad I didn't pass it up.

Looks like lp is where it is gonna get fonkay, I may just stick with the first one :)

Bought one that had two discs with e same sides, C and D. Luckily i asked the seller to open it to ship the cover and discs separate, and he noticed it so we was able to cancel the order. The seller checked his remaining stock and this was the issue with half of the copies.Perhaps the sellers here should open to check their copies just to be safe, to avoid any further issues with buyers, atleast with international buyers.
