SNTS - The Rustling Of The Leaves Anyone with a vinyl fetish and a taste for greyscale sounds will know about SNTS. Back in 2012, he dropped the debut of his Chapter series in a limited run of 200. It sounded like techno forged in a crypt, haunted and delirious with evil spirits, and it didn't stay in stock for long. Tracks roll on and on sometimes, giving you time and space to approach apparitions that until now have mostly lurked in the background on The Rustling Of The Leaves they've taken full command. Polar Inertia offers up the album's longest production with a remix of Oblivion. It's almost twice as long as the original, though it doesn't feel like it. Best Album Ever. Nothing Word To say <3 Thanks Lord Of Techno
there are really nice & original tracks on this album.
and the Polar Inertia remix is not a coincidence considering that deep & dark mood.
Ever since the mysterious inception of the project in 2012, SNTS just might be the chosen torchbearer of the sound that the likes of Ancient Methods paved almost a decade ago. His sound is as dark, powerful and serene as its true to the form. No cheap theatrics. Properly dark techno executed in just the right fashion. After a streak of phenomenal 12" releases on his own label, it's now time for a full length. Not really much new to say here. If you have heard any which one of the SNTS vinyls to date, you know exactly what you are getting: pitch black ambience, broken beat industrial slammers and savage 4x4 stompers that really more on atmosphere and sound design than rocketing tempos and celestial breakdowns. It pretty much covers all nuances of black, successfully too. One might argue that a lack of progression might float to the surface, but in my book, for the time being, SNTS is one of the producers who has nailed it just right. For lovers of all things brooding and industrial in techno, this man knows his craft. There is nothing he could do with his sound to improve what he's doing at the moment. From the fractured rhythmic sections of Oblivion and Estrangement, to the shredding assaults of Backwoods, the haunting background passages of Theory Of Loneliness, and the pounding percussion of the eerie Remission, there is nothing to complain about. What he lacks in diversity, he more than makes up in detail, intensity and straight up good old adamance. He has found a niche that suits him like a perfectly tailored hat, and he slays with every tune he releases. Plain and simple. However, in my book, the real stand outs are the Polar Inertia rework of Oblivion and the closing track, Roots Trapped In The Ground. The French outfit have gained a fairly large cult following with the minimum amount of output, and this contribution is yet another testament to their vast, involving sound. Where most techno producers have no business producing tunes that last over five minutes, Polar Inertia compose and arrange ten minute pieces like it was a joke. This one's no exception. Evocative, palpitating and propulsive piece that deploys a myriad of sounds and passages that lift you right out of your dancing shoes and launch you to a universe of hypnotic introspection. By the time the track reaches its last third, with the acidic bleeps, you won't even be head nodding to the pounding drums any longer, as your musical self will be in a land yet to be explored by mankind.Just when you think you've had it all, the albums ends with Roots Trapped In The Ground. You know how everyone expects that last chilled out piece at the end? Wrong. SNTS drops perhaps the most bestial track he's come up with. Ridiculously intense percussion, more rust than you'd find on used harbor freight tools, and twenty tons of aural testosterone slapped right at ya! Submissive industrialism handled with so much confidence you just have to hand it to the maker. Save the best for last.Overall, this album won't suit everyone, but I have a feeling that those who will dig it, will do so with the intensity of ten thousand trail blazing suns. If you've dug the older Reeko sound, Ontal, Ancient Methods or some of the more 'out there' Avian releases, you need to hear this. It has just the right amount of incessant industrial might. One more piece of vinyl would have been probably too much for one sitting, and a tune less would leave one yearning for more. For an eight track endowed in blackness, this is near perfect. Cryptic sepulchral techno seldom sounds this good.
One of the best album of the year. If you like dark techno ambient sound...welcome!
